Question by Ms. MNK: What University should I go to? Lawyer or Engineer?
I have to apply only to Universities in/near Chicago, and ALSO in/near Clarksville, Maryland. (Clarksville is 45 min. away from Washington, DC)
I’m supposed to be married at the age of 19, which is not that far.
After marriage, I plan on going to a law school or an engineering school. But what other career choices do u think I have? I want to make a good amount of money.
I would be a doctor, but it takes 11 yrs to become one who makes good money and that’s too long.
And what kind of engineers are there? Which are the most interesting careers?
What about law? Which firm makes the most money?
Isn’t 7 yrs of law school really long? Especially if I want to have kids?
How long after grad. do u start making good money in law? Engineering?

If you can hack the math, go with engineering. Not computer engineering, those jobs are going overseas (cheaper labor). Civil engineer, how can that be sent overseas efficiently? Anyway, Americans aren’t as a rule that terrific with math, so go with a math major as surely you will have job security. You are looking for a lifetime career as much as possible here.

Oh, you know, nursing is a great field. Or physician’s assistant, which means you become a nurse and then continue on with your education. People switch into nursing because it pays fairly well and there is great job security.
You know what would be smart? Getting the LPN at the local technical college in 15 months. Then getting the BSN while you work weekends as a nurse. Then going for physician’s assistant. Oh, and don’t forget, you can work as a nurse on the weekends (32 hrs on weekend) while dad is with the kids, then you stay home with the kids all week. A very family-friendly occupation.
